Here I will review the 5 Best pH meters- 2020. A good pH meter should cost around $50. The price depends mainly on the quality of the pH meter and its technical specifications.

The 5 Best pH meters #1

Apera Instruments AI209 Value Series PH20 Waterproof pH Tester Kit

Technical Specifications

  • Accuracy: ±0.1 pH, ±0.5˚C.
  • Range: 0 to 14.0 pH.
  • 0 to 50˚C Auto. Temp. Compensation
  • 1-3point Automatic Calibration
  • Up to 2000 hours of operation powered by AAA batteries.

Much much better than the cheap pH pens that you can get in different colors. Reading is quick and indicated by a smiley face. Comes with two buffer solutions (pre-made) and calibration in straight forward.

To take a reading, switch on and dip the pen into the solution, gently stir, and wait for the smiley face (appears in about 3-5s) and read the number from the screen, that is the PH.

This comes in a flash box already calibrated one and extremely accurate instructions to calibrate make no sense though but luckily there was a YouTube tutorial video by the company

The tester has been calibrated before they went out of the factory. But since there is a time gap before they reach our customers, we recommend doing the calibration with the included premixed buffer solutions before your first use.

Make sure you use a storage solution for any digital pH meter. If the probe dries out, it will never come back and be accurate again

The 5 Best pH meters #2

Dr.meter pH Meter with ATC, 0-14pH Measurement Range

Technical Specifications

  • Range: 0 to 14.0 pH.
  • 1-3point Automatic Calibration
  • powered by AAA batteries.
  • Application: drinking water, swimming pool, aquarium, spa, hydroponics, food, food fermentation, wine/beer making

The meter was easy to use and seemed accurate and consistent. Much better than the cheap $10 meters.

Dr.meter meter is Supplied with calibration solutions, enough for two calibrations. Extra batteries. Tough storage case with cradle for meter.

The more this meter is used the faster it becomes at displaying the reading. It does however take some (boringly) time to “settle” into a reading if it is not used often.

this meter makes its own temperature corrections – and it doubles as a thermometer, very handy if you need to collect that bit of data as well as the pH.

A very nice pH meter feels nice and solid, and the output is really easy to read.

Essentially just need to clean thoroughly after each use (VERY carefully!) and we are good to go for the next time.

Make sure you use a storage solution for any digital pH meter. If the probe dries out, it will never come back and be accurate again.

The 5 Best pH meters #3

  • Reading alarm – instantly notifies you of the readings that are beyond a customized safe range by lighting up the red backlight.
  • Optional automatic reading lock – so you don’t have to guess when to manually hold readings
  • 4 AAA batteries. (included)

You get what you pay for. The Apera PH60 is in a whole other ball game. For the price, this unit is very nice.

You get everything you need to start out (even the batteries) and I really like how it adapts to the temp of the liquid I am measuring.

The hard-plastic case with foam inserts should keep the tester and supplies in good shape for years to come. One neat thing Apera does is included in the case along with the paper instructions are instructions on a laminated card so it can be taken out in damp environments and will not be destroyed.

Learning how to use the PH60 is no problem with the instructions that are in the case and the videos that are at Apera’s website. I would defiantly recommend the PH60 for easy pH testing.

Don’t waste your time with $20 pH Pens as I have in the past. This is the pen to get. After much research, I had decided between the Apera PH60 or their top competitor.

Apera is the very best PH testing probe. It comes in a great kit, including buffer testing solutions, cups for testing, storage solution and very detailed and easy to follow instructions that answer all your questions about calibration and have also been laminated for protection.

If you are looking for an affordable but highly sensitive and a quality pH tester with everything included, then look no further than the Apera Instruments tester.

KWODE Water PH Meter Tester

Technical Specifications

  • Measuring range: 0.00-14.00 ph
  • Accuracy: 0.01 ph
  • Battery: 2×1.5V LR44 (built-in)

  • Size: 18x6x3cm / 7×2.3×1.2inch

If you still decide to buy the cheap pen, buy this pH meter.

Buy to measure aquariums PH value, more convenient, the operation is also relatively simple, the measurement is also more accurate, bought to try, stop in the water again 10 seconds or so can have more accurate results.

This pH tester is easy to use, and the price is low, that is very good. I tested it in drinking water, and it showed up pretty quickly, and it was easy to calibrate.

Its calibration is a very intelligent 3 points automatic calibration, which makes it easy to detect accuracy. It’s easy to use, just put the front end in a liquid, it can be used over and over again, I don’t know how long it will last, but it looks good, I’ll keep using it.
